Travelling to Indonesia

After a while finally i could find an opportunity again to write something here. Lately i had a few important exams and have been busy in applying for an internship.

So now I’m gonna share some basic information for anyone interested to travel to my home country: Indonesia.

For you who own a passport from this following countries and just want to enjoy vacation, you may obtain a Visa on Arrival for 35 USD that will be valid for 30 days:
Untitled 3This VOA could be extended once for another 30 days and the application should be submitted at the nearest immigration office at least 7 workdays before the first visa expired. But if you’re willing to stay longer than that or you intended to do something more than just spending holidays there, then you must apply a visa at the indonesian embassy in your country.
For you who hold a passport of this following countries, you may visit Indonesia without visa:
Brunei, Cambodia, Chile, Ecuador, Hongkong, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.

You are allowed to drive in Indonesia with an international driving license, just beware of the traffic. A part of the fact that we drive on the left side of the road there, the traffic is also very chaotic. I wouldn’t recommend to drive actually, especially if you only come for a short visit. It’s better to take a taxi, rent a car with a driver or just get a public transport if you want to spend less money. But driving in Indonesia as a foreigner is really not fun :-D.
Especially because if any accident happens, you would be trapped into very uncomfortable situation. In Indonesia, the car driver must always pay despite who actually made a mistake. You will  never win the case against motorcycle rider. And that is even if they were the one who broke the law T_T. And they think that foreigner are always rich, so they assume that you can pay much.

I guess many tourists would always think of Bali if they want to travel to Indonesia. But Indonesia has more than just Bali to offer. If you like the nature, diving, unique culture and seek tranquility….then maybe you should think of Papua, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi or Moluccas. Bali has more service for tourists of course, but that’s exactly the reason why Bali is no longer quiet.. it’s too full with tourist now :).
